August 10, 2026 changed the Saavedra family's life forever. The earthquake that struck southwestern Colombia collapsed the apartment in Cali where they lived. Isabella, Sofía, and Ana María were triplets: they came into the world together, and that day, two of them left together. Only Ana María survived. Her parents and an uncle also died when the building came down.
Ana María now faces surgery and a long recovery. Alongside that, she faces the impossible task of moving forward without the people who had been with her since her first day of life. Her family opened a GoFundMe campaign to help her through it: medical costs, recovery, whatever it takes to rebuild some stability.
