The Torres del Limonar building in Cali was one of the ones that collapsed on August 10, 2026. Several members of one family were trapped under the rubble, among them cousins Valentina and Juan Esteban Vanegas. A newborn baby and the family's father were rescued alive, and today they are in intensive care at Fundación Valle del Lili, in Cali.
A GoFundMe campaign, organized by Constanza Galeano, is raising funds to support the family through what comes after a rescue: the medical recovery, the hospital costs, and holding on for those still waiting for news of their cousins.
Amid so much loss, this is also one of the few stories where the rescue came in time. A newborn who had barely begun his life survived the collapse of an entire building, and that alone is reason enough not to look away. Helping here means helping make that second chance count.
